To truly understand the worldly magics of the Earth we must consider not simply the plants that grow in its soil, or even the minerals that slowly crystalise and cohere in the caves and chambers beneath the Earth’s surface; but consider – and indeed celebrate! – the magical properties and potentialities of those very soils and earths themselves.

A variety of folk magicians work with the potent dirts of significant locations: from the uses of graveyard dirt to stir both blessings and banes from the land of the dead, to the collection and ensorcelling of dirts from crossroads for a myriad of opportune purposes; and from stealing the foundational fundaments of earth from mighty institutions such as banks, to scrying the earths gathered from fields and further abroad to develop better relations with land spirits (not to mention find buried treasures!); and much much more besides.

In this class we will explore geomantic dimensions of such dirt sorceries, specifically by focusing on sixteen kinds of dirts for more effectively working with the geomantic spirits and virtues of the Sixteen Figures. More than simply a spotter’s guide however, this class will discuss the specific techniques and methods as well as attitudes and approaches for gathering, processing, empowering, applying, and deploying dirts, soils, dusts, and so many more terroirs of the world for operative sorcerous utility.
