Unbewitching – the archetypal stock-in-trade of conjure doctors, cunning-women, wise ones, and spiritual workers the world over. The removal of the crossed conditions that may arise from the magical violence of enemies against us. The dissolution of deliberate hauntings. The abjuration of demonic harassment. Not to mention the occasionally downright aggressive "best-defence" tactics against the sorcerous ruination of body, mind, and soul.

The work of accurately identifying, isolating, and counteracting curses, hexes, jinxes, and other forms of maleficia has many components. Diagnosing the exact nature, effects, and consequences of the blight. Establishing timelines and charting tides of shifting fortunes in response to alleviating and exacerbating actions. Selecting efficacious materia magica, preparations, and modalities of counter-magic and healing. Disabling and even returning the baneful work thrown. Countering and dealing with the malevolent spirits stirred - potentially sent to harm not only the target but their healers - with a variety of approaches: from exorcising cursed locations; to trapping or otherwise immobilising such restless imps, devils, and shades; to buying them off with counter-offerings; to a myriad of other solutions.

In this three-part course recording, professional diviner and consultant sorcerer Dr Alexander Cummins leads us through such territory from the crossroads of geomantic divination and sorcery, to consider best practices around preventing, determining, and destroying curses, as well as dealing with those who send them. 

The three sessions of the Hexbreaking course break dowm thusly:

Session 1: Diagnostics                                                                   
In which is discussed cursing in both necessary theory and operative practice, stressing underlying principles and mechanics of occult philosophy at play. Particular attention is paid to considerations of the practical utilities of classic magical axioms: transference, contagion, etc. Diagnostic protocols are presented and explained for Seeing/Stopping/Solving maleficia, and figural curse profiles considered in light of how each of the Sixteen Figures speaks of magical attack. 

Session 2: Damage Control
In which we cover some fundamentals of what to Do and Not Do when finding oneself under magical attack, spanning from basic safety tips to advice on counter-intelligence and information management. We cover various techniques of unbewitching; including extra security checks, and some especially aggressive forms of sorcerous countermeasures. Cunning means of traditional counter-magical approaches are discussed, such as the opinions of early modern astrological physicians and like Joseph Blagrave; as well as consideration of the various anti-malefic usages and adaptations of witch-bottles.

 Session 3: Armed Response
In which we focus on geomantic means, methods. and medicament for nullifying – and even reversing – curse-work; informed by close examination of the destructive mysteries and monstrous spirits of the fiery figure of Cauda Draconis, the Dragon’s Tail. Practical matters around working with hexbreaking figures are discussed: from talismans to gestures, and from considerations of tools to timings. Along with considerations of cleaning off with ‘curse-bundles’, particular attention is paid to Sixteen Hexbreakings; demonstrating how each of the Sixteen Figures counsels their own unbewitching working.
